1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup oleo
1/2 cup shortening
2 beaten eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda in 1/2 cup warm water
1 cup honey (or 1/2 cup honey, 1/2 cup molasses)
6 1/2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 cup raisins
1 cup nuts
1 cup candied fruit

The dough is quite thick so use a heavy duty mixer because it is hard to beat with a regular mixer. I usually chill the dough. Roll out dough and cut with a diamond shaped cookie cutter.
Use 1 whole egg for glaze, brushing on with pastry brush. Place 1/2 piece of walnut or pecan in center. Bake at 15 minutes at 350 degrees (325 degrees confection oven) for 15 minutes.
